A second-generation catalyst for intermolecular hydroacylation of alkenes and alkynes using beta-S-substituted aldehydes: the role of a hemilabile P-O-P ligand.

Abstract:
(Chemical Equation Presented) Top of the P-O-Ps: Stabilization of a cationic rhodium catalyst with the hemilabile P-O-P ligand dpephos allows efficient intermolecular hydroacylation of challenging substrates (see scheme). Structural studies have established the role of the coordination of the oxygen atom, and a catalytically competent acylhydridorhodium intermediate was fully characterized. © 2006 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH and Co.
