Muon-spin rotation studies of electronic properties of molecular conductors and superconductors.

Abstract:
The moun-spin rotation also called moun-spin relaxation (μSR) technique is an extremely useful method to study magnetic and superconducting systems. This is because the frequency of the spin precession of the implanted muon is directly related to the magnetic field at the moun site, hence, the muon can be used as a microscopic magnetometer. This review illustrates how muons can be employed to study various types of molecular conductors. Focus is on the basic physics of the muon and muonium (μ+e-). Applications of the technique to organic donors, organic metals, organic superconductors, and conducting polymers are also discussed.
