Stability and diffusivity of positively charged muonium in Si
- Abstract:
- The stability and dynamics of the positively charged hydrogen pseudo-isotope muonium (Mu(+)) in heavily doped p-type Si:B was investigated using mu SR (muon spin rotation/resonance/relaxation). These measurements were carried out in the absence of an applied field. Under these circumstances, the muon polarization decays, albeit slowly, since it experiences randomly oriented internal magnetic fields due to certain nuclei (e.g. Si-29, B-10, B-11) in the sample. We find that at low temperatures, Mu(+) is static and isolated, while above 200 K it diffuses through the lattice. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
