Novel strategies for synthesising and labelling the heteroatom-trifluoroethyl motif

Abstract:

The expansion of methodologies to access fluorinated molecules is vital to the pharmaceutical and agrochemical industry. Novel protocols will complement existing routes to accessing proven useful fluorinated motifs, and for accessing new chemical space. Such fluorinated scaffolds may be [18F]-radiolabelled, generating tracers which may be used to produce medical images through Positron Emission Tomography (PET). Improvement in [18F]-radiolabelling techniques will simplify access to current PET tracers and allow the development of original tracers, potentially enhancing image quality or permitting images of a wider range of clinical problems.
