Three-dimensional structure of herpes simplex virus from cryo-electron tomography.

Abstract:

Herpes simplex virus, a DNA virus of high complexity, consists of a nucleocapsid surrounded by the tegument-a protein compartment-and the envelope. The latter components, essential for infectivity, are pleiomorphic.
