Abstract:

Hearing and touch are two of our senses that rely on mechanotransduction to convert mechanical stimulus into electrochemical activity. Several studies have demonstrated that touch and hearing share common genetic determinants; mutations in genes causing deafness are also associated with reduced tactile sensitivity.
