2S,3R,4R,5S)-3,4,5-trihydroxypipecolic acid dihydrate [(2S,3R,4R,5S)-3,4,5-tri-hydroxypiperidine-2-carboxylic acid dihydrate]

Abstract:: The relative configuration of the title compound, C6H11NO5·2H2O, was determined by X-ray crystallography; the absolute configuration was determined by the comparison of physical data with the literature [Fleet, Bashyal and Chow (1986). Tetra-hedron Lett. 27, 3205-3207; Fleet, Bashyal, Chow and Fellows (1987). Tetra-hedron, 43, 415-422; Bernotas and Ganem (1985). Tetra-hedron Lett. 26, 4981-4982]. The structure exists as an extensively hydrogen-bonded lattice, with each mol-ecule acting as a donor and acceptor for seven hydrogen bonds. © International Union of Crystallography 2007.
