ELECTRONIC DEFECT STATES AT NAXWO3(100) SURFACES

Abstract:
Photoemission spectra of well-ordered tungsten bronze (100) (2 × 2) surfaces, essentially free of structure in the bandgap region, have been obtained after careful annealing in UHV or low partial pressures of oxygen. The intensity of bandgap emission is enhanced by argon ion bombardment. It is argued that emission in the gap is not intrinsic to ordered stoichiometric surfaces. © 1993.
