Reducing electrical size of metamaterial elements: simulations and experiments

A simple realisation of split ring resonators with small ring diameter/wavelength ratio (∼1/300) is investigated. Theoretical, numerical and experimental analysis have been used and the results from all studies exhibit good agreement. Initial fabrication techniques are developed; however, further high resolution techniques can enhance the performance of the resonators.
