Electron-driven metal oxide effusion and graphene gasification at room temperature.

Abstract:

In this study we examine the behavior of ZnO and CuO crystalline nanoparticles trapped within graphene folds while being irradiated with the imaging electron beam from a transmission electron microscope using an acceleration voltage of 80 kV. While trapped in the graphene folds the nanoparticles are relatively stable (as compared to particles residing on the surface of graphene), however the edges are seen to become amorphous.
