Trypanosoma brucei undergoes dramatic stage-specific changes in surface antigen expression, metabolic development, cellular morphogenesis and cell-cycle control. These events can be studied in detail during the transition between the bloodstream stumpy stage and the tsetse fly midgut procyclic form.
