In situ study of atmospheric stress corrosion crack initiation in aluminum 6061-T6 and particulate SiC reinforced nanocomposite

Abstract:

This project aimed to study the atmospheric stress corrosion cracking (SCC) behavior of 6061 T6 aluminum alloy and a composite based on the same alloy, reinforced with SiC nano particles.

The materials were machined into taper-shape specimens, and on each specimen, three salt deposits were applied at the center and two ends.
