PHOTODISSOCIATION OF D2O IN THE 2ND CONTINUUM BY 2-PHOTON ABSORPTION AT 266 NM

Abstract:
The rotational population distribution of OD*(A 2Σ+) fragments produced by two-photon photodissociation of D2O at 266 nm has been determined from an analysis of the A 2Σ+-X 2Π fluorescence. The distribution obtained seems to confirm the existence of long-lived trajectories when the dissociation of H2O or D2O is initiated with a small energy excess above the threshold for production of excited OH (OD) fragments. © 1989.
