Abstract:

This study examines Tirso de Molina’s creation of cross-dressed women in three comedies – La villana de la Sagra, La mujer por fuerza and La huerta de Juan Fernández – in order to explore the extent to which the dramatist uses the type to broach questions of sexual ambiguity.
