Abstract:

Conventional drug eluting stents allow predictable longterm relief from coronary obstruction in most cases. However, rigid permanent metallic stents alter flow dynamics, abolish vascular reactivity, limit the potential for maximal vasodilation and promote ongoing inflammation and abnormalities of endothelial function.
