BACKGROUND: Polymorphisms of the vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene have been implicated in the genetic regulation of bone mineral density (BMD). However, the clinical impact of these variants remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the relation between VDR polymorphisms, BMD, and fractures.
