Investigation of tri-polarised MIMO technique

The performance of a tri-polarised multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system that employs three co-located orthogonal antennas at both ends of the communications link is investigated experimentally. Results indicate that such a system can support three independent sub-channels, resulting in a 10% outage channel capacity gain of the order of 5 bit/s/Hz over the traditional single-input single-output (SISO) system.
