Abstract:

BACKGROUND: Acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (AUGIB) accounts for 14% of all red blood cell (RBC) transfusions in the United Kingdom, despite little evidence to guide optimal blood transfusion strategies and few data on the variation in practice.
