Detection of cartilage matrix degradation by autofluorescence lifetime.

Abstract:

Cartilage is a vital organ to maintain joint function. Upon arthritis, proteolytic enzymes initiate degradation of cartilage extracellular matrix (ECM) resulting in eventual loss of joint function.
