Multiple inflammatory hits and the pathogenesis of severe airway disease.

Abstract:

Refractory or difficult-to-control asthma is associated with some clinical and pathological features normally associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), raising the possibility that there are similarities in their pathogenesis.
