The United Nations and human security

Abstract:

This paper discusses the roles of the United Nations in the evolution of the human security agenda since the 1998 Lysoen Declaration. It suggests that the UN has played an important role in conceiving, promoting, legitimising, codifying, institutionalizing, and implementing elements of human security in international relations.
