Studies on the reaction of glutathione and formaldehyde using NMR.

Abstract:

Within cells it is proposed that a major mechanism for the metabolism of formaldehyde is via its reaction with glutathione (GSH) to form S-hydroxymethylglutathione (HMG), which undergoes subsequent oxidation.
