Heart failure (HF) represents a complex multifactorial syndrome, characterized by crucial structural and functional abnormalities of the myocardium. Matrix metalloproteinases are associated with left ventricular dysfunction, adverse left ventricular remodelling and prognosis after acute myocardial infarction.
