Abstract:

Dolomite is shown to precipitate in laboratory experiments that simulate the microbiogeochemical conditions prevailing during the later stages of evaporation in the ephemeral, hypersaline, dolomitic lakes of the Coorong region, South Australia, where microbially-dominated ecosystems support intensive bacterial sulphate reduction.
