Dimenhydrinate in children with acute gastroenteritis and vomiting

Abstract:

Antiemetic drugs are still prescribed in a high percentage of children with infectious gastroenteritis. In Germany, dimenhydrinate is most frequently prescribed although there is no recommendation by treatment guidelines. So far the therapeutic efficacy of dimenhydrinate has not been shown in children with gastroenteritis and vomiting by randomized controlled trials.
