Femtosecond visualization of lattice dynamics in shock-compressed matter.

Abstract:

The ultrafast evolution of microstructure is key to understanding high-pressure and strain-rate phenomena. However, the visualization of lattice dynamics at scales commensurate with those of atomistic simulations has been challenging.
