Novel method for measuring junctional proton permeation in isolated ventricular myocyte cell pairs.

Partial exposure of single ventricular myocytes to membrane-permeant weak acids or bases, using a dual-microperfusion technique, generates large and stable intracellular pH (pHi) gradients.
