Abstract:

This thesis describes the synthesis of acyclic, macrocyclic and, in particular, interlocked anion and ion-pair receptors and sensors.

Chapter One will introduce the field of supramolecular chemistry with particular emphasis on areas which are pertinent to this thesis, including anion receptor design and templated synthesis of interlocked structures.
