Isotope-selective photoionization for calcium ion trapping

Abstract:

Resonance-enhanced photoionization for isotope-selective loading of calcium ion trapping was investigated. Trapping of all th enaturally occuring isotopes from a natural abundance source was demonstrated by optimizing the photoionization procedure for isotope selection. It was found that loading method was around four orders of magnitude more efficient than conventional electron impact ionization in the trap.
