Abstract:

Enantiopure α-alkyl-substituted aldehydes are widely recognised as important building blocks in synthesis. Despite this, methods to prepare such substrates are limited. Strategically, asymmetric intermolecular SN2 α-alkylation represents a highly straightforward transformation, but still remains an elusive feat.
