BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: β-Adrenoceptor stimulation causes pronounced vasodilatation associated with smooth muscle hyperpolarization. Although the hyperpolarization is known to reflect K(ATP) channel activation, it is not known to what extent it contributes to vasodilatation.
