Diastereoselective synthesis of 1,3,5-trisubstituted 4-nitropyrrolidin-2-ones via a nitro-Mannich/lactamization cascade.

Abstract:: A versatile one-pot nitro-Mannich/lactamization cascade for the direct synthesis of 1,3,5-trisubstituted 4-nitropyrrolidin-2-ones has been developed. The reaction is easy to perform and broad in scope, and high levels of diastereoselectivity can be achieved.
