Influence of sheath material and thermal mechanical processing on critical current densities in thallium-based superconducting tape

Abstract:
An investigation has been made of the influence of processing conditions on the critical current densities observed in (Tl,Bi)(SrBa)CaCuO superconductors. Optimisation of processing parameters (such as sheathing material, mechanical processing and annealing treatments) has led to critical current densities approaching 10(4)A/cm(2) being achieved at 77K in zero field.
