The critical current density of Tl-1212 and 1223-based superconductors

Abstract:

We have carried out systematic investigations of the critical current densities (Jc) in a series of unoriented granular superconductors of the (Tl1-xBix)(Sr1-yBay) 2Ca2Cu3Ox (1212) and (Tl1-xPbx)Ba2CaCu2Ox (1223) phases, with Tc varying from 88 to 115 K. The most striking result is that the critical current density of the best sample, (Tl0.78Bi0.22)(Sr0.8Ba0.2) 2Ca2Cu3Ox, exceeds 105 A/cm2 at T= 100 K, H = 0 and 2 × 103 A/cm2 at T = 100 K, 5 kOe.
