This thesis explores whether gang violence has disrupted Bermudian conceptions of identity, and questions whether public reflection on crime can transform social relations. Using interviews, social media discourse and anonymous comment threads, I examine ‘crime talk’ about Bermudian gang violence in order to understand how crime disrupts narratives of place and identity.
