Adipose tissue metabolism in obesity: lipase action in vivo before and after a mixed meal.

Abstract:

Physiological actions of insulin include suppression of fat mobilization from adipose tissue and activation of adipose tissue lipoprotein lipase. Here, we report measurements of adipose tissue hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL) and lipoprotein lipase (LPL) action in vivo in 10 normal and eight obese subjects, with the latter group having varying degrees of glucose intolerance.
