Abstract:

Refractory anaemia with ring sideroblasts (RARS) is characterized by anaemia, erythroid apoptosis, cytochrome c release and mitochondrial ferritin accumulation. Granulocyte-colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) inhibits the first three of these features in vitro and in vivo.
