Abstract:

29 patients with either haematological or solid tumours, and receiving allogeneic or autologous bone marrow transplants (BMT) were included in a double-blind, randomised study of glutamine-free versus glutamine-supplemented TPN. Patients were given isocaloric, isonitrogenous TPN after BMT until they consumed 50% of their required diet orally.
