Fabrication of SiC Fibre Reinforced MoSi2 Based Composites by Low Pressure Plasma Spraying

Abstract:

SiC fibre reinforced SiAlON-MoSi2 composites have been manufactured by spray/wind which is a concurrent fibre winding and low pressure plasma spraying (LPPS) technique to produce a multi-layer, circumferentially fibre reinforced composite ring. LPPS parameters for SiAlON-MoSi2 powder were optimised by a two-level experimental design approach followed by further optimisation, which provided a smooth sprayed surface, low matrix porosity and best deposition efficiency.
