Critical Current Densities of Isolated Grain Boundaries in Coated Conductors
- Abstract:
- We report on a new technique to isolate grain boundaries (GBs) and single grains in YBa2Cu3O7-δ coated conductors using a focused ion beam microscope. The critical current density Jc of a GB measured for magnetic fields applied perpendicular to the film surface showed hysteretic behavior. For fields applied in-plane a very different angular dependence of Jc was found for a bridge patterned across a GB and a second one placed within a grain. © 2009 IEEE.
