Fluorescent, bioluminescent, and optogenetic approaches to study excitable physiology in the single cardiomyocyte

This review briefly summarizes the single cell application of classical chemical dyes used to visualize cardiomyocyte physiology and their undesirable toxicities which have the potential to confound experimental observations.
