Pathogenesis of primary inflammatory myopathies

Common elements: Primary inflammatory myopathies consist of dermatomyositis (DM), polymyositis (PM) and inclusion body myositis (IBM). They have certain characteristics in common: progressive muscle weakness and mononuclear inflammatory infiltrates in the muscle.
