Activation of the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway ameliorates postoperative ileus in mice.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND and AIMS: We previously showed that intestinal inflammation is reduced by electrical stimulation of the efferent vagus nerve, which prevents postoperative ileus in mice.
