3D characterization and modelling of damage development in a nuclear grade sic/sic ceramic composite

Abstract:

The mechanical behaviour of a braided SiC-SiC ceramic composite tube has been investigated under different loading conditions using X-ray computed tomography. In-situ observations under flexural loading and internal pressurization, analysed by digital volume correlation, provide detailed 3D maps of the deformation and damage.
