Abstract:

HO-1 (haem oxygenase-1) catalyses the degradation of haem and possesses anti-inflammatory and cytoprotective properties. The role of inflammatory mediators in the pathogenesis of OA (osteoarthritis) is becoming increasingly appreciated.
