Protecting the heart: biological targets and clinical strategies.

Abstract:

The pathophysiology of myocardial damage in the setting of ischemic cardiomyopathy is complicated by the fact that the process of restoring blood flow to the ischemic cardiomyocytes can itself induce injury to the myocardium.
