Maximising staff 'buy-in' in the development of a whole school literacy approach

Abstract:

Literacy is crucial in enabling young people to achieve across the curriculum, and in the wider world beyond the school gates. Schools are expected to demonstrate that they have put in place a clear literacy policy, promoting high quality literacy teaching across the whole range of the school's provision (Ofsted 2014), in order to close the gap between the 'word poor' and the 'word rich' (Rigney 2010).
