Wolbachia surface protein induces innate immune responses in mosquito cells.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND: Wolbachia endosymbiotic bacteria are capable of inducing chronic upregulation of insect immune genes in some situations and this phenotype may influence the transmission of important insect-borne pathogens.
