The Department of History of Art houses visual material of significant importance in the historiography of Art History as a discipline. Of particular interest are the 125 large, high-quality photographs (specifically, carbon prints) of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel frescoes taken in 1869 by Adolphe Braun (1812-77).
