Development of an alginate based microcarrier for cell expansion

Abstract:

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are potential therapeutic candidates, owing to their differential ability. However, the gap between availability and demand of MSCs requires alternative expansion methods from 2D flasks such as microcarriers which provide a high surface area to volume ratio. However, current commercial microcarriers support low cell attachment and difficulty in cell detachment.
